3 Tips To Help Protect Ornament Collectibles

Blog

Ornament collectibles come with highly detailed designs, but the ornaments often feature fragile designs that could easily scratch or break. As you build your ornament collection each year, you will want to find the best ways to protect the ornaments from damage.

Check out some tips to keep ornaments in top shape while you still get to display the designs year after year.

1. Wrap Ornament Hooks Around the Branches

When you hang premium holiday ornaments, you will typically rely on a sturdy ornament hook. While the hooks have a natural U-shape that can cling to a branch, you will want to wrap the hook fully around the branch to make a secure connection. When you wrap the hook around, you can make a tight connection that prevents the ornament from slipping.

A fallen ornament creates one of the main risks for damage and proper use of an ornament hook will add extra protection. Try not to hang the ornament too close to the tip of a branch. The middle of a branch still provides clear visuals of the ornament with extra strength provided by the branch itself.

2. Remove & Organize Ornament Batteries

The purchase of new ornaments like Hallmark ornament collectibles may include a wide range of extras. The ornament may light up or have built-in sound elements. At the end of each holiday season, you should remove the batteries from the ornaments. If you leave the batteries inside, you run the risk of leaked acid.

Not only could leaked acid ruin the condition of the ornament, but the acid could leak out and cause damage to other ornaments as well. Purchase a small plastic organizer case. Keep all of the loose batteries in the case so you can easily retrieve the batteries when the next holiday season comes around.

Keep a small screwdriver inside the case as well. The screwdriver allows you to easily insert and remove the batteries as needed. The simple process allows your batteries to last

3. Remove Ornament Hooks After Christmas

Once you go to pack the collectibles away again, remove all of the ornament hooks from the ornaments. The hooks can hang loose and scratch up ornaments while in storage. The small sharp ends should not mix with other ornaments. Even if you wrap ornaments in bubble wrap or tissue paper, the hooks could push through and create issues.

Keep the hooks in a plastic bag or a small box so they do not interact with other ornaments.

Follow these tips to keep your ornaments and hallmark collectibles protected for years to come.

Crafting To Relieve Tension

About three months ago, I realized that the level of stress I was experiencing wasn't normal. I was always frustrated and stressed about something or other, and I didn't want to feel on edge all the time. I decided to seek out natural ways to calm down, and my therapist recommended crafting. I decided to take a local art class, and it was an absolute blast. I was able to completely let go of my worries and turn my anger and frustration into something beautiful for my home. This blog is all about the benefits of crafting and having fun hobbies.
